Thomas had a very short racing career. His first race was on 26 January 1997 and his last, 7 months later, on 31 August. But in that period, he attended 15 race meetings for 12 podium finishes which included a win at the Gold Coast Midget Titles.

Starting in 1998, the Thomas Horey Event is staged each year at the Gold Coast Kart Club.
Entry fees from the event and proceeds from raffles etc. are donated to the Royal Brisbane Children's Hospital for research into Nueroblastoma.
